Welcome to EngFrosh 2005! NOTICE: EngFrosh experienced technical difficulties for approximately 36 hours beginning at between 10-11am on Monday morning. If you tried to register during that time, please try again now. If you sent EngFrosh an email, and have not yet received a response, please send your email again. We apologise for the inconvenience. Congratulations on being accepted to Carleton University! By now, you're probably trying to make heads or tails of what Orientation @ Carleton is all about. If you've already decided to become a part of the EngFrosh experience, you can proceed immediately to registration. But what if you're still confused? Well, we here at EngFrosh are here to help! What is EngFrosh? EngFrosh is Carleton's 8-day orientation geared towards (but not limited to) new students in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design and Information Technology. The primary goal of EngFrosh is to help you get comfortable with your new life at Carleton, by allowing you to bond with your soon-to-be-classmates in a fun and safe environment. In doing so, you will be creating a personal support base of new friendships, something that you can use for getting help (be it academic or otherwise) when you need it most. There is also the benefit of meeting upper-year students in your program, who will quickly become a valuable resource for when you need assistance. How does EngFrosh differ from the CUSA/RRRA orientation (Carleton Goes Country)? The CUSA/RRRA orientation program is designed for the entire campus, and is quite a bit larger than EngFrosh. So, while there are more people for you to meet, you're less likely to meet as many people in your stream or program (your future classmates and study partners) as you would with EngFrosh. Because EngFrosh is tailored for certain programs, you'll stand a much better chance of getting to know many of the people you'll be spending the year with. And since EngFrosh is smaller, we are able to do a wide variety of activities (such as white water rafting) that couldn't be done with a really large group. What about the FYEO's "free" orientation (The CU)? The FYEO will be offering a number of free events during the week - you'll see them if you're moving into Residence, and EngFrosh is even joining forces with them for our very first major event. Because it's all free, you can attend whatever FYEO programming you wish. However, do keep in mind that for many of the things that FYEO is offering, you would have to skip out on EngFrosh events in order to attend. So check the schedule, and be sure that you really want to leave all your new EngFrosh friends behind - not to mention the EngFrosh fun and events that you've already paid for! What else can you tell me about EngFrosh? EngFrosh is a service provided by the Carleton Student Engineering Society, with the full support and endorsement of the Faculty of Engineering & Design. It is organized and run entirely by student volunteers, coming from every faculty at Carleton. EngFrosh also is your introduction into the tight-knit family that is the Carleton Engineering Community. We're crazy, we're proud, and we have a lot of fun! You'll meet the movers and shakers of our Engineering Society, who provide a wealth of services and social events throughout the year. And, you'll be exposed to many of the other ways you can take a break from all that studying, get involved and have some fun yourself! So, what exactly do I have to do? Register right now! Remember, EngFrosh has a full slate of activities for you. So if you're signing up for EngFrosh, don't register for Carleton Goes Country or another orientation program as well - you'll be so busy with us that you simply won't have time to attend their events! And be sure to check out our website for all sorts of information, using the links at the top of the page.
