Events in DetailMonday, September 6With an early start to Opening Ceremonies at 10am make sure you check in between 8am-10am in Minto Centre foyer to receive your frosh kits. If you are a student living in residence then you most likely will check-in during your move in. This is a busy day with events to help you bond with your group. In the morning there will be a unique tour of campus and Ottawa with rare sites not shown in conventional tours. After which there will be the annual engineering games where only the clever and creative will be the heroes. The evening will consist of bowling, fun and games across Ottawa. Tuesday, September 7Today will be a momentous occasion, your first university lecture. Academic Orientation gives you a chance to meet professors and department chairs, as well learn key information about the upcoming year. In the afternoon, there is a Health and Safety at Work presentation for all new faculty students and a fair where you learn about the various University Student Support and Service agencies and student groups and societies at Carleton. In the evening you will spend some time bonding with your group. Wednesday, September 8WAHOO! WHITE WATER RAFTING DAY! EngFrosh heads to the beautiful white water rafting site on the Ottawa River. If rafting is not your thing, there is also beach volleyball and basketball courts, swimming, hot tubs, or you can just relax and soak up the rays. After which its back to campus for a private concert for Carleton Orientation students where Billy Talent will be performing. Thursday, September 9The moment you have been waiting for all summer... The First Day of Classes. Don't forget, it is the reason you are paying big bucks to be at Carleton University. So bring your pens and notebooks because the professors are ready to teach. There is an opportunity to meet many different people from all the different faculties before you team up with them for Shinerama the next morning, at a CUSA Shinerama sleepover. Friday, September 10Enjoy your second day of classes and in between EngFrosh and CUSA will join forces for Shinerama. Shinerama is a nation wide fundraiser between universities to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. We meet up again after classes for a double bill at the Mayfair Theatre. What could be better than 500 engineering students in a theatre? Saturday, September 11EngFrosh invades the Byward Market for an ultra extreme scavenger hunt. This is not your regular scavenger hunt, in this one the craziest and most creative ideas win. Each group will then spend the night building a boat to race on the Rideau Canal. Sunday, September 12Once the group s boat passes inspection by our qualified engineering professors, then it s off to the races. The race on the Rideau Canal is a good opportunity to see which ideas float, or sink. Then it is Closing Ceremonies, where Super Frosh and the winner of the coveted SOOPP CUP will be announced.
