-Events in Detail

Sunday Aug 31

Be sure to check-in in the Minto Centre foyer, between 11:00am and 2:00pm, to receive your EngFrosh Kit. (Residence students who have already checked in the day before don't need to check-in today.) You'll get to know your frosh group, participate in opening ceremonies, and learn your way around town. Then, we'll all get together for a rockin. party to close out the evening!

Monday Sep 1

It.s time to test your ingenuity, knowledge and courage against the other frosh groups in our annual Engineering Games! After that we'll go cheer on the Ottawa Lynx baseball team, and finish up the day with a great night of fun and games.

Tuesday Sep 2

Wake up early and head into school for your first taste of a university lecture. Academic Orientation will help to set you up for the coming school year - it's a valuable (and mandatory) experience for all first year students. You'll get an invite to it in your academic orientation package. At the Academic Orientation you'll also have a chance to meet your department chair and some of your profs. You'll also be visiting a student group fair where you'll learn about how you can get involved in great groups like the Carleton Student Engineering Society (CSES), the Great National Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR), and other student groups on campus. In the evening, your group head takes control for a night of bonding with your frosh group.

Wednesday Sep 3

WHITE WATER RAFTING DAY! We.ll all gather onto the buses and head up to the beautiful white water rafting site on the Ottawa River. If you don.t want to go rafting there are lots of other activities to occupy yourself with, including beach volleyball, swimming, hot tubbing, basketball, or even just sunbathing. At night, we'll head off to the huge outdoor concert bash for all Carleton frosh!

Thursday Sep 4

First day of classes! It's the reason you.re here after all. You'll have the day off to attend your first set of course lectures, and to get a feel for a normal school day at Carleton. In the evening we'll be joining up with the groups from the general orientation for a crazy game of Bling Bling, followed by a rally to tell us what Shinerama's all about.

Friday Sep 5

Second day of classes! In between classes we'll reunite with the general orientation folks for Shinerama, a giant fundraiser where we compete against other schools to make the most money for Cystic Fibrosis. In the evening we'll meet up again and head out to the Mayfair theatre for an exciting double bill. This night is always a riot!

Saturday Sep 6

We'll all head downtown for out infamous giant scavenger hunt through the Byward Market. After that it's back to the university to for our biggest test of your Engineering creativity. Spend the evening building a group boat for tomorrow's annual Canadian Forces Boat Race on the Rideau Canal!

Sunday Sep 7

Grab your paddles and lifejackets, and carry your boat down to the Bronson Bridge, 'cause the race is on! Don.t worry parents; all of our boats will be checked for structural stability and buoyancy by a Naval Engineer and by one of Carleton's excellent Mechanical Engineering professors. After the race we'll hold closing ceremonies, where the coveted "Cup O' SOOPP" will be awarded to the winning group. EngFrosh will then be officially over - but don't worry, all your newly made friends will be in your classes tomorrow!
