Carleton Engineering students are becoming more and more well known for the pride they show in their school, work, extra
curriculars, and themselves. They are actively involved in improving not only student life here at Carleton, but also in
helping out the community through events such as the Labatt 24
Hour Relay - where they helped to raise $426,742 for the Royal Ottawa Health Care Foundation. Carleton
Engineering students have also made a name for themselves as students with an enormous amount enthusiasm and spirit. In
fact, our Great Northern Concrete Toboggan Race (GNCTR) team won 1st
place for Spirit at the 2001 competition in Winnipeg.
As well as our pride in the Engineering Profession which we have chosen to pursue, we also take great pride in attending
university in this great country of Canada. Our theme for EngFrosh this year reflects this pride. The Great Canadian
EngFrosh: from Eh? to Zed promises to be a celebration of the virtues, accomplishments and history of this great country.
For information about non-engineering events during PrepWeek, please visit the Carleton
University PrepWeek site.
You’re probably thinking that when you show up for frosh week, you’ll have to get your head shaved, eat dirt, get naked and dye yourself some crazy shade of purple. Well that’s just not true, except for the purple part. That can still be arranged if you want.
Engfrosh is about meeting new friends and fellow classmates during your first week of university, all while having a helluva a good time. We are planning some kickass activities for you, including a Double-Decker bus tour of Ottawa (for you out-of-town folk), a high stakes Monte Carlo night, a wet ‘n wild white water rafting experience, a movie night to remember at the classic Mayfair theatre, a relaxing afternoon watching the Ottawa Lynx play baseball, a design-your-own boat race and many, many more.
Every year Engfrosh has a theme and this year we’re showing our national pride by calling it The Great Canadian Engfrosh. The names of the nine frosh groups that make up EngFrosh are uniquely Canadian: Beavers, Blizzard, Canoe, Hosers, Loggers, Mounties, Permafrost, Polar Bears and Rockies. Check out what they have to say in the Groups section.
All in all, we hope that Engfrosh gives you a great start to your engineering, architecture or industrial design career. Go on, get out there! Meet people! Have fun! Be Crazy! Get purple, you know you want to!
