My name is Rami and I'm a fourth year electrical engineering student here at Carleton University. This year will be my fourth time participating in EngFrosh. I was a frosh, facil, head facil, and now director. I keep coming back because frosh week is possibly the most fun you can pack into 8 days. You have the opportunity to learn so much; where to go, whom to talk to, what classes are going to be like, which professors are the best, and how to have fun around Ottawa. When I was a frosh, my facils took care of me like I was their best friend. Today, they are my best friends, in addition to everyone else I met during the week.

The purpose of EngFrosh is to familiarise you with Carleton and, more importantly, the engineering student life style. My goal is to make sure that when classes start you have no underlying fears or questions, and many friends who can help you if you do. This is university; you will be spending a lot of time at school, so you might want to get to know the rest in the same boat. It's amazing what they can do for you.

EngFrosh is not about hazing, and it is not about initiation. EngFrosh is about having fun! I hope to see you out there.

Rami

I started in Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University three years ago, and to date the most memorable time was the first week known as EngFrosh. During that one week I met so many people I couldn't remember any of their names. However, today most of those people are of the best of friends, any of whom I could call on for help at any time. Since then I have been a facilitator, Assistant-Head facilitator, and Fundraising Co-ordinator for EngFrosh. I've also been the Social Director for the Carleton University Engineering Society (CSES) and part of many other Carleton activities.

Why EngFrosh? - EngFrosh has been designed to bring together the future engineers for one week to teach them everything we fit in can about engineering, Carleton U, the city of Ottawa, create life long friendships, and most of all, have fun. After being at a national conference for engineering universities this year, I found out that EngFrosh is the longest, most eventful engineering orientation week in Canada, and probably in North America.

On behalf of EngFrosh 2000 I would like to welcome you to Carleton University and into the Carleton Engineering family. One last thing: a tip from an experience Carleton Engineer - School can get really hard and at many points you'll feel like there's no time for anything, but I urge you to make the time. Get involved. This is YOUR university life, make the most of it, because it's only five years long … Oh … I mean four years!

James.
